Our Story
Like a classic rom-com, living parallel lives but never truly intersecting..
Ricky and Emilie went to the same high school, shared friends, and even had a built-in connection through his sister Janie — yet somehow never really met. Their schedules barely overlapped, graduation sent them in opposite directions, and life carried on. After college, they unknowingly landed just a mile apart in Campbell, spent four years frequenting the same haunts, and still managed to completely miss each other! (Truly impressive, in hindsight.)
It wasn’t until 2015 and they were 26 that timing finally decided to give them a glimpse.. At Janie’s going-away party at Clos La Chance, they crossed paths.. The conversation was easy — about Campbell, gardening, and life — and then, just like that, they went their separate ways again.
Fast-forward to April 2019, when Janie posted a photo with Ricky on Instagram and the universe gently cleared its throat. A double-take from Emilie turned into a follow, and on August 1, 2019, Ricky sent a message that changed everything:
“Hi Emilie! How have you been?!” A beer date followed just days later, and that was that.
Within ten months, they were living together and building a life side by side with their fur children, Dirk and Red. Guided by love, admiration, and mutual respect (plus a shared ability to keep life fun), they support each other’s dreams, laugh through the hard parts, and somehow managed to get the timing right at last.

From then…
From that first beer onward, life filled in quickly and meaningfully. They built a home (and a steadily expanding garden), growing food, flowers, and roots year after year. Together they weathered big changes — including cancer and treatment — while also chasing growth and creativity: new businesses launched, a ceramics studio came to life, and dreams kept evolving. Through it all, they learned how to show up for one another fully, choosing support, humor, and care above everything else.

Now, they’re continuing to shape a life that feels like their own — traveling to see family, escaping to the beach, and planning international adventures. Their idea of “the plan” has changed many times, but their love has only grown stronger. With an unwavering commitment to each other’s well-being, they’re excited to take this next step — surrounded by the people who’ve known them the longest and those they’ve gathered along the way.
